Full Immersion nel Megalomanismo

Just the End of a Chapter.

Well, I’m not sure of how many people are still reading this blog, probably none, but I wanted to make sure you guys don’t think I’m dead, or somehow got kidnapped by some sort of weird creatures form Mars.
Anyway, for those who hasn’t heard the news yet, right now I’m in Italy and I’m into finishing my study at university of Parma. To make a long story short, I came back to Italy, because I wasn’t excepted at San Diego State University and in order to speed up the process of graduation I thought that applying to an Italian university would have been the easiest/fastest solution.

The desire to come back in the US though, is still strong and very alive. A big part of myself is still in San Diego walking down Rosecrans St. to go getting some “espressi” at Peter’s Starbucks. Another part on myself is still in Chicago, having an unmeasurable amount of fun with my Italian fellows Alessio, Marco & Co. I don’t want to be misunderstood though: the importance of my friends I got here in Italia is priceless: I don’t know what I would do without them.
Again, I don’t exactly know why, but my heart is really telling me that this one is just a little break, just a little time to spend here and than it will be time for me to get the dance started.

So, wrapping it up, I hope you all enjoyed my short stories I’ve written until today, and I promise that, at some point I will start writing again. But this is not over, I swear! ns27

Talk to you, sooner or later!

A Funny Drawing

This is an awesome drawing my roommate Rodrigo made for me representing me driving our new rental in downtown Chicago.

Thanks Rodrigo. This is just hilarious! Don’t we look exactly the same?? Damn, great job! ns22

What’s up people? Here I am, finally relaxing in my bedroom after 10 hours at the office. A sweet temperature of 100°F is nicely and slowly killing me, and as if the temperature wasn’t bothering me enough, I decided to drink some good red wine after a “dinner” prepared in less than 10 minutes, but hey it was good, it certainly was, I cooked it.

Things to say? Way too many to tell them all in this post, but I’ll try to do my best. Today I decided to use an image as a title instead of just using the regular, boring, and over-used plain text. Well, the picture doesn’t really need an explanation, does it? That is Lake Michigan. I don’t know if I am the only person who feels like he hasn’t understood the definition of lake but, after being in front of that, I’m not sure of what a lake is anymore. But before I wanted to show you guys a few pictures of Chicago, so first thing first, I’ll talk about the lake later in the post ns3

Unfortunately, my first week of staying here in Chicago I didn’t have time to go to downtown to enjoy the city. Way too many things were going on, and that is also one of the reason why I kind of delayed to update the blog for a little, but two weekends ago I finally went with some friends I met here, mostly from work.

From left to right, Rodrigo (my actual roommate), Tim, Ryan, Kile, Mitch, Alicia, and Felicia.

And here it is, the windy city, the second city, the Chi-Town, aka Chicagoland.

This city is way too big to be fully enjoyed in just one day but we did our best to walk around and see as much as we could in one afternoon.

This is definitely  the monument I appreciated the most. It is informally called “the bean” but the artist wanted it to represent a cloud. I wasn’t curious enough to go and investigate on the meaning of the monument itself but I bet it was created because of the recurrent windy weather one can find here in Chicago.

That very same day I went to downtown Kile told me that Chicago is called the windy city because of the number of windy talkers in politics (white liars), and not because of the weather as most of people think. I kind of wanted to answer back, isn’t windy talked the definition of politician all over the world? I just got over it…

Another pictured I thought would have been interesting was the Sears Tower (the one with two antennas at the top of the building) which is the tallest tower in the Unites States of America after the 9/11.

Definitely a “must visit” in case you have a chance.

In these three weeks I went out with my coworkers pretty much every weekend, and each one of them was literally no-stop, no time for thinking, no time for breathing. The other weekend we went to some sort of a techno music festival, and this last weekend we had Indiana as destination.

On saturday afternoon Joey, Rodrigo, and I hit the road directed to Chesterton, where Tim lives (B in the map). We spent an unforgettable day all together playing pool and playing Rockband on X-box 360 after having an amazing barbeque. The pool table was definitely the damn best part of it. ns15 Thanks Timmy for being such a good host!  ns22

The day afterwards we went to Gary (C in the map) and two were the major events: I ate a Chicago hotdog and I saw a lake that I initially confused for an ocean. We went to the lake because of an air-show, but I ended up being more entertained sipping in the water than watching the actual air-show. Well, the Chicago hotdog made me finally understand that there has to exist someone up there in the sky, the lake just confused me. I entered in the water and it wasn’t salty, plus I had hard time floating. Jokes a part I really enjoyed it and I hope we will have something like it again before I leave the country.

Thanks you guys, you’ve been giving me a great time and to the readers, you’ll hear from me soon.

Ciao! ns27

A Turning Point

What’s going on people? Long time I haven’t written anything and I’m very sorry for it. I really haven’t had much time to stay here, in front my laptop thinking of what to say, and the inspiration was an issue as well. But I guess today is the day to start again to narrate some of my adventures, or I should better say my last adventure in the United States.

Tonight it will be the fifth night I sleep here in Chicago, Illinois. Why am I here? I was offered a 2 months internship in Elettric 80 company and I thought it could have been an excellent experience to encounter before going back to Italy and finish my study. And here I am in the windy city.

But tonight I’m not going to write about Chicago. No, not tonight. Tonight, I’m going to dedicate this post to the great time I had during my last days lived in San Diego.

The incredible trip to Disneyland is definitely something to remember.

Rene, I, Robbyn, and Will

During my last 6 months I met a few new friends in San Diego who I haven’t talked about yet. Rene was one of my new roommate from Germany. Then Will, an American guy I met in my physics class and finally Robbyn, Will’s fiancee (thanks God I remembered to write fiancee and not girlfriend… I could have got into big troubles ns27 )

A couple days before going there I thought it was going to be a total failure. Once I was there though… Wow! There is no right adjective for it. It is just the perfect place that brings you back to your childhood, when you were still a kid  hoping for magic to be real.

Disneyland’s rides are just the best. You gotta think of hundreds millions dollars spent in buildings to entertain people coming from all over the world. My favorite ride was the hunted house, but unfortunately it was too hard to take any picture.

Then obviously, dozens of stores where there. You could find anything you could ever imagine  made by Disney. One of these stores was called The Mad Hatter where you could find any kind of hat you’ve ever thought of.

Unfortunately I’m still missing the video of the grand finale. But I will post it very soon. Promise!

There is noway to forget the countless pool games I played with my two roommates, Rene and Freddy. The funny thing is how we started playing though. We were coming back home from Ocean Beach, when we noticed this random stoner who from his front yard invited us over to smoke some marijuana. We almost ignored him, but then I thought to ask him if he had any idea of where we could have played some pool all together, and with a smile printed on his face he brought us to this bar, across the street, where we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon. At the end, that bar became our favorite one and we kept going there till I left San Diego.

I wish I would have found out before of how much I like playing pool ns22 .

During this three years in the US I had always tried somehow to shoot with a gun at the shooting range. But there had always been something to stop me. Before it was an age issue, then once I finally turned 21 I needed someone to come with me who knew what to do, but unfortunately i’d never had a chance to find anyone available. But at the end, I fucked the system. Charlie, Rene, and I went in the middle of the desert and we started shooting like a group of mad cowboys!

The last night we went at our favorite bar, Tiny’s (the only reason why I remember the name of the bar is because Will once said “Oh now Francesco I understand why this is your favorite bar, you like tiny’s… got it?? ns27 “) and it turned out to be just a perfect night all together. Rene, Martin, Roberta, my two American friends, and I went playing pool, and drinking beer all night long no stop. Unfortunately our pool buddy Freddy was missing; I wish he could have made it. At the end I was honored to take a picture with both of my American friends, Will and Peter, who would have ever imagined.

Peter, I, and Will

I can’t really say anything but that my last two weeks in San Diego were just the best of the best. Even if I did meticulously plan all this, it couldn’t have came out any better!

Thank you all people, I will miss you all!!! ns31
